A Window Between Worlds (ongoing)

Circles of Light implements art projects designed by this nonprofit in ongoing classes. Trained facilitators utilize specific activities to build awareness of issues which surround domestic violence. Images created have helped battered women and children gain a sense of renewal and power; images of hope, survival, and strength educate the public and become "a window between worlds" for survivors taking steps to change their lives.

After School Art (ongoing)

Held in Kekaha, Ele'ele, Kalaheo, Lihue, Hanamaulu, Kapa‘a. This weekly series offers school-age youth around the island free after school art activities on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The program is the only one of its kind and is open to the public. Programs are geared toward building self-esteem and positive communications skills and interfacing positively with community.

Center for Attitudinal Healing (ongoing)

Circles of Light is a participating member of this international center which offers peer support services. Provided by trained facilitators, the process supports individual exploration of new ways of viewing life's challenges and to find peace of mind even in the most difficult situations. Started by Dr. Jerry Jampolsky in 1975, the approach is based on the understanding that people and conditions outside do not cause upset; rather one's thoughts, feelings, and attitudes about them. Children and adults equally derive benefits from the process.

Coconut Festival

The Kapa‘a Business Association hosts this annual event celebrating all things coconut featuring history displays, food and craft booths and plenty of entertainment. A coconut cook off and pie eating contest are some of the highlights. Circles of Light offered sand painting for the children attending this event.

E Malama Kou Kino: A Day of Caring for Mind, Body, and Soul (ongoing)

Circles of Light offers an ongoing series of retreat days for adults that include massage, art, yoga, healthy cooking, and use of a pool. Income from this program supports the organization's projects for youth and families. Staff and Board are grateful for the volunteer massage therapists, art/yoga instructors, entertainers, and chefs who make these events a success, and to those who offer their homes as host sites.

Eastside Family Summit (annual)

Circles of Light offered sand painting of ancient Hawai‘ian petroglyphs to children and youth attending this family support day at Kapa‘a High School. The event featured presentations and special events by many community-based organizations serving youth and families.

Love The Journey (ongoing)

Circles of Light contracts this small, local organization to provide ongoing series of sessions geared for children who have issues with domestic violence and/or parents who are or have been incarcerated. "On Solid Ground" is a cognitive-based skills curriculum used among various other materials, to promote self-esteem, communications skills, and empower youth to take a leadership role in future sessions.

Parent / Child Fair

Circles of Light offered sand painting of ancient Hawai‘ian petroglyphs to primarily pre-school children transitioning into elementary school. Offered at Kukui Grove Center by the Kaua‘i Transition Team, a host of presenters provided art, games, and entertainment.

Wahine Music Festival (annual)

Circles of Light offered sandpainting of petroglyphs to children and youth and the Hands Project to adults and children attending this annual event to celebrate family and support island organizations which work hard to address a variety of issues affecting families. Held at Kapa'a Ball Park, the event featured art, music, and poetry presentations and activity tables.
